Quick Greek Beef with Rice

A classic Greek food cooked by all Greek households.

Ingredients Needed for the Quick Greek beef with rice recipe.

  • 1 kilogram of calf.
  • Half a cup of butter.
  • 2 onions.
  • 3 tomatoes.
  • 2 red peppers.
  • 1 TBS tomato paste.
  • 1 glass of wine.
  • 2 garlic cloves.
  • 3 glasses of water.
  • A little spice.
  • Salt – Pepper.

For Rice.

  • 1.5 cup of rice.
  • 4 cups of water.
  • 1 TBS olive oil.
  • Half TBS of salt.

Preparation of quick Greek beef with rice.

Wash the calf, wipe it, and into a cutting surface cut into small pieces. Wash the peppers, wipe them with absorbent kitchen towels, and cut into strips. In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the chopped onions. When the onion gets dark, add the pieces of the beef and Sauté all together for another 5 minutes. Once they get color, we pour the wine. When the alcohol evaporates, add the tomatoes grated to the grater, the tomato paste dissolved in a glass of water, garlic and whole wheat. Stir with a wooden spoon, add salt, pepper, and a glass of water and let the food simmer. Just before the end pour the pepper strips, a glass of water even and let them boil until the sauce has thickened.

Final Stage.

Put the salt water in a saucepan and, when boiled, put the rice. Cover the pot, simmer for 15 minutes and remove it from the fire. Remove the pot lid and cover it with a towel for 4-5 minutes to pull the water vapor from the rice. Serve the rice on a platter and top the pieces of meat together with the peppers and the sauce. If you put 2 tablespoons of lemon when it boils the rice will become leafy. The wine that can be served with that food is Red Cabernet.
